On our doorstep

We attended an unusual concert at Snape last night and had the opportunity to sit in the front row, feet from the performers, so it felt that they were playing just for us. We’d heard Sean Shibe before, playing works by Purcell, Britten and others at Blythburgh church, accompanied by Karim Sulayman.

In this concert, in the Britten Studio, he was joined by flautist Adam Walker and viola player Timothy Ridout and the music was played with a contemporary twist. Google reveals that Walker is a professor at the Royal College of Music and Ridout plays a viola that is more than 400 years old.

It is just too easy to take for granted the fact that every concert at Snape is world class and to forget how lucky we are to now live just ten minutes’ drive from the concert hall.
