Joseph and his Brethren

My interest in Suffolk authors has led me to H W Freeman who wrote Joseph and his Brethren in 1928. I have a copy of the 1931 edition, which was the seventh reprint. The book proved to be hugely popular, and perhaps surprisingly, it remains a good read today.

Set on a farm near Saxmundham the story charts the fortunes of a small farm, that is rejuvinated, lost and regained in the closing pages. It is sobering to think that a farm of just 200 acres could support a large family, because now that would not be possible.

Will I be remembered as a Suffolk author? Let’s see how popular my next book proves to be first
