A tale of two cinemas
We took Belinda’s parents to Leiston cinema the other day, to see Jim Broadbent in The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry. It was an entertaining film, with some subtle religious undertones, such as the washing of feet and a growing band of disciples who followed Harold on his journey.
Last night, we went to Aldeburgh Cinema to see a film about the Vermeer exhibition that is currently running at the Rijksmuseum. The cinema was packed and the paintings were expertly interpreted by museum staff. Tickets for the exhibition have long since sold out, but I suspect I got more from the film than I would from a crowded exhibition.
Both cinemas are independent, both are run on a not for profit basis, but although just four miles apart, they cater for very different markets. We’re spoilt for choice!
