Strawberries

I woke this morning thinking wouldn’t it be nice to have some strawberries for my breakfast. For the past 40 years, unless staying in a hotel, I would have had to eat what was in the fridge, because the nearest shop has always been a few miles away. But this morning, I was able to walk out of the door, up the road and within ten minutes, had strawberries on the table.

I hope I never take the granted the convenience of living a short walk from shops, and for that matter, cinema, doctor, dentist, pubs and restaurants. After six months, every day still feels like a holiday and soon, our new home will be completed and we can slip fully into our new life in Leiston.

Better still is the prospect of a walk this afternoon beside the river Alde, followed by a concert at Snape Maltings, which is just a ten minute drive away. Life has never felt this good.
