Breaking eggs

I spoke at a TEDx event in Norwich a few years back, about how the education system often fails to recognise and support youngsters with exceptionally high IQ. I threw an egg across the room to make the point that too often, bright youngsters find themselves excluded from school because they don’t fit the system.

I failed my 11+ and so went to Leiston Secondary Modern School. Years later I joined Mensa and later still in my mid-60s, went to university, graduating in 2020 with a creative writing MA.

In 2013 I set up Swarm Training CIC to provide young people who had been told they’d failed, with an alternative way to prove their worth to both their employer and themselves.
