I discovered learning late in life

I failed my 11+, I think as an act of rebellion, the found myself languishing at secondary modern school where I found little to interest me. Later, at the age of 64 I went to the University of East Anglia, graduating in 2020 with an MA in Biography & Creative Non-Fiction.

While school did not suit me, I found my time as a full-times student at university inspiring. I realised the value of formal learning, and the importance of gaining recognised qualifications. I was, and still am, tempted to return to university and study for a PhD, perhaps digging deep into an aspect of biographical writing that interests me. Perhaps now that I am living in Suffolk, I will be able to clearly discern what aspect of literature I can usefully explore within the framework of a doctorate.
